Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur engages with Malaysia–Sri Lanka Business Council to Strengthen Business Cooperation

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur Dharshana M Perera complimented the Malaysia Sri Lanka Business Council for the long-standing partnership established with Sri Lanka and called for further strengthening of the collaboration to enhance business and economic relations between the two countries. The High Commissioner made this request during the courtesy call by the Business Council at the High Commission on 25 June 2026.

The delegation was led by Mr. Anand Sharvavanandan, President of the Council, and comprised Executive Committee members Mr. Magendran Muthiah, Deputy Chairman; Mr. J. Henry, Secretary; Mr. Suren Hendry, EXCO Member; Mr. Kelvin Ling, EXCO Member; and Dato’ Ramanujamorthy, Adviser. Mr. M.I. Mohamed Rizvi, Minister Counsellor/ Actg. Deputy Head of Mission also joined the meeting.

The discussion highlighted the importance of creating more structured, result-oriented follow-up mechanisms to convert business delegations into tangible outcomes.

Sri Lanka improved investment climate, political and economic stability, ongoing reforms, strategic location and market access advantages. Opportunities in tourism, pharmaceuticals, logistics, manufacturing, services and other priority sectors were highlighted.

The High Commission and the MSLBC agreed to further intensify their close partnership with a view to achieving concrete outcomes in trade, investment and services. The MSLBC established in 1994, continues to play an important role as a business collaboration platform supporting trade and investment linkages between Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
